Ellen Ochoa

Ellen Ochoa was born in LA to Mexican-American parents. Her parents divorced while she was in high school but she went on to earn a degree in physics from San Diego State University. She then went to Stanford. Ochoa was selected by the astronaut corps in 1990, became the first Hispanic woman in space, and flew on 4 Shuttle missions.
