Lieutenant Michael Murphy

Lieutenant Michael Murphy was a Navy Seal who died in Afghanistan in 2005 at 29, along with 18 other soldiers. After being ambushed Lt Murphy exposed himself to enemy fire to transmit an emergency signal. The film Lone Survivor tells his story and fitness enthusiasts across the country honor him with the Crossfit workout “Murph” every Memorial Day.
