Globe Refiners Basketball Team

The Globe Refiners basketball team was sponsored by the Globe Oil Refinery in McPherson, Kansas. They were known for pioneering the “fast break” offense, quickly counter-attacking and capitalizing on a numerical advantage on the court. In 1936, members of the team won the gold medal for the US team defeating Canada 19-8 at the Olympics in Berlin.
