Zebulon Pike

Zebulon Pike was a US Army Lieutenant in 1806 when he was sent to explore the recently purchased US Louisiana Territory. He successfully made it to present-day CO before being captured by the Spanish. After returning to the US, he was KIA as a General in the War of 1812. Today he is considered an American hero and Pike’s Peak bears his name.
