Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, the President of Mexico (1934-1940), promoted indigenous cultures and traditions like the Día de los Muertos or Day of the Dead. This celebration is rooted in indigenous Mexican traditions, particularly from cultures like the Aztecs and the Mixtecs. In the West, we mark the similar celebration of Halloween.
