Bob Dole

Bob Dole was born in Russell, KS and was a teenager during the Great Depression. He enlisted in the US Army during WW2 and was wounded fighting in Italy. Initially paralyzed, he regained most mobility after several years of hospitalization. His post-military public service career included 35 years in Congress and winning a Presidential nomination.
