Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower

Dwight “Ike” Eisenhower grew up in Abilene, KS and helped pay for his brother’s college, before being accepted to West Point himself. He rose to the rank of 5-star general in the US Army and was Supreme Allied Commander in WW2, notably planning the North Africa campaign and D-Day invasion. He was elected US president in 1952.
