Alexander Hamilton
Alexander Hamilton was the 1st US Treasury Secretary. He was instrumental in combining all the colonies debts from the Revolutionary War into the federal debt. He also advocated for the establishment of tariffs to protect early American manufacturing. He helped create federal taxes, spurring the Whisky Rebellion and a strong federal government.
