Zheng He

Zheng He (1371-1433) was the greatest admiral and explorer in Chinese history. His fleet of Treasure Ships included some twice as long as any until 1900 and navigated much of the Eurasian coast long before Europeans. After his death, China destroyed the fleet and embarked on centuries of isolationism which they continued until the 20th century.
