Frances Perkins
Frances Perkins, the first female Secretary of Labor, was a pivotal figure in shaping the New Deal under FDR. Responding to the hardships of the Great Depression, Perkins helped establish Social Security, unemployment insurance, and the minimum wage. She also championed housing affordability, leading to numerous public housing initiatives.
