Marco Polo, born in 1254 in Italy, was an explorer renowned for his extensive travels along the Silk Roads. Polo embarked on his journey to Asia in 1271, reaching the court of the Mongol ruler Kublai Khan in China. He served the Khan for 17 years, during which he documented the vast, diverse cultures, advanced technologies, and the thriving trade networks he encountered across Asia.
