Langston Hughes

Langston Hughes was an African American writer and social activist, renowned for his contributions to the Harlem Renaissance. Born in Joplin, Missouri, Hughes spent much of his childhood in a series of Midwest towns, including a formative stint in Lawrence, Kansas, where he was raised by his grandmother.
